Fantasy of Life

Fantasy of Life means an imaginary life lived in a fantasy world, or to escape reality. I spent a lot of my time growing up reading books to escape reality and avoid school work, but for my senior thesis, I have embraced those ideas in my series, Fantasy of Life.

Through the use of film photography, models, and costuming, I’ve created a body of work that focuses on the woman's body being photographed and the stories that can be interpreted from how she is placed or the environment around her. The costuming and environment go hand in hand with each other as she is in flowy skirts or white dresses interacting with the waterfalls and woods, her clothing allows her to stand out among the landscape and draw the audience's attention to her. Along with her poses, many of the photographs produced focus on parts of her body, like her hands, feet, or back, and very few feature her face. I feel that the idea of never seeing her full face allows people to use their imagination and create stories of their own based on the narrative being created with the model and her movements.
